PAMPA, scientific support for the management of Marine Protected Areas

On 30 and 31 March 2011, the Porte Dorée Tropical Aquarium in Paris will host the closing meeting of the PAMPA project. This multi-disciplinary project combining Mediterranean and overseas managers and various academic fields (law, geography, ecology, economy, statistics) set out to validate reliable and operational indicators for assessing the performance of marine protected areas for the management of coastal ecosystems, their resources and their uses.

The PAMPA project, coordinated by Dominique Pelletier, scientist at Ifremer, was funded by the Liteau III programme which is sponsored by the Ministry for Ecology, Sustainable Development, Transport and Housing, the French Coral Reef Initiative and the Marine Protected Areas Agency.
